Christine (Chris) Elyse Corcoran Mathia passed from her families loving arms into the arms of angels on the Morning of April 9, 2013, after a long battle with Alzehimers. Chris was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Daniel John Corcoran and Elise Adrienne Meresse on February 16, 1945. After her parents divorce she and her brother Daniel J. Corcoran III, her mother and Step-Father William J. Chapman moved to Sarasota, Florida when Chris was 8 years old. She grew up within the Ringling Brothers Circus family and was a member of one of the first graduating classes of Riverview High School in 1962. At Riverview she was a member of the Orchestra playing the Cello. After graduation she attended the University of Florida where she met and married William (Bill) A. Bessent III and had two children, William (Billy) Abram Bessent IV and Lucinda (Cindy) Christine Bessent-Abate. During this time she worked for the Florida Department of Agriculture at the Department of Plant Industry in Gainesville working her way up from Secretary to Lead Computer Programmer. In 1984 she decided to return to school at Santa Fe College to change her career, and became a Registered Nurse. She and Bill divorced in 1986, and she met the Love of her life David Alan Mathia in 1987 and they were married April 30, 1988.

Chris worked as a Surgical Nurse for North Florida Re-gional Medical Center her whole nursing career. She used her computer program-ming skills to create the first program there for Surgeon Surgical Preference Cards used in the preparation of surgical cases.

She was a member of the Florida Track club and Gainesville Bridge Club.

Together she and David raised two more children, Daniel Ryan Mathia, and Lyn-nae Nicole Mathia Hensley. She and David enjoyed twenty-six wonderful happy years to-gether enjoying, their many grandchildren, eight in all, traveling, volleyball, bridge and upon retirement going on "walk-about" in their RV along with her new babies, Scooter and Buddy their beloved Miniature Austrian Sheppards.

Her parents, precede Chris in death Daniel J. and Yvonne Corcoran, Elise Adrienne Mer-esse and William Chapman. She is survived by her four children, Billy Bessent, Cindy Bessent-Abate, Daniel Mathia, Lynnae Hensley and her be-loved eight grandchildren: Samuel Abate, ,Ens USNavy, Christine Abate, Danielle, Lindsey, Eddy, and Katie Bes-sent, Gloria Hensley and Mar-cus Mathia.

A memorial service will be held at a latter date, and Chris's Ashes with be set free over Point Of Rocks at Stick-ney Point Siesta Key as she wished. In lieu of flowers her family ask that donations be made to so that we can someday eradicate this terrible disease.
