JANE MIDDLETON, 68
Gainesville - Jane Middleton Bell, 68, died April 25 after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer. She was born at Alachua General Hospital on July 22, 1944 to Aubrey and Ella Middleton of Hawthorne. She met Clyde H. (Pete) Bell Jr. when both were students at Hawthorne High School, and they married on June 9, 1963. After helping Pete through college, she settled into a busy life as an Army wife and a mother of four. After living in various locales throughout and the United States and Europe, they moved back to Gainesville in 1992. She enjoyed travelling, reading, theater, cooking, board games, hosting family gatherings, and spending time at her condo on Panama City Beach. She also loved cats, and will be missed by her beloved cat, Queen. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, with a quiet strength and graciousness that touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Pete Bell; brother Tommy Middleton of Hawthorne; sons Jerry Bell of Miami Shores, FL, Eric Bell of Crystal River, FL and Brett Bell of Gainesville; daughter Donna Bell Langlotz and husband Dirk of Panama City Beach; granddaughter Nicole Bell of Crystal River, and; grandsons Jake Bell of Crystal River, Brock Langlotz of Panama City Beach, and Brody Langlotz of Panama City Beach.
The family would like to thank the excellent medical team at North Florida Regional Medical Center, in particular Dr. Peter Acs and Dr. Cherylle Hayes, for the excellent medical treatment that kept her with us for many years after diagnosis, and the excellent staff at Cypress Cove Care Center who gave her comfort in her final months.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Hawthorne Cemetery in Hawthorne, FL with Rev. Rich Howell officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 28, 2013, 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Milam Funeral Home in Gainesville, FL. Jane loved to take part in the
