SMITH, L.J., 93

Mrs. L.J. Smith passed away on August 31, 2013 at the age of 93 in the Senatobia Convalescent Center & Rehab in Senatobia, MS, after struggling with dementia and heart problems. She was born on July 20, 1920 in Bell, FL, to James A. Brock and Lallie L. Caraway Brock.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Smith Jr.; one son John Henry Smith III; one grandson John Henry Smith IV, and her parents James and Lallie Brock. As well as by her two brothers R.J. (Rena) and Leon Brock (Nita) and her sister Lavonne Brock.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Leona Smith of Senatobia, MS, Elizabeth Ann Smith of Newberry, FL, and two brothers Glen Brock (Eloise) of Dade City, FL and Edison Brock (Wilma) of St. Petersburg, FL. She has 3 grandchildren; Sharon Lynn Bennett (Donnie) of Senatobia, Mrs. Carla Beckman (Tony) of San Ramon, CA, Christopher Dean Smith (Mary) of Newberry, FL, and one adopted granddaughter, Jamie Smith Craig of Gainesville, FL. She has seven great grandchildren; Matthew Paul and Rachel Elizabeth Bennett of Senatobia, MS, Lauren Brooke and Katelyn Grace Smith both of Newberry, FL, Robert Brian Ward (Victoria), who is now serving in the Marines, and Ryan Adam Ward of Lake Butler, FL, and Zander Beckman of San Ramon, CA. She has many, many nephews and nieces and many, many great nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Newberry, 25520 W. Newberry Road, Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jack Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
