Gainesville - Douglas McGregor Howden, 31 of Gainesville, passed away on September 10, 2013.

Douglas was born on March 9, 1982 in Tallahassee, FL to John Charles and Elizabeth McGregor Howden. He graduated Newberry High School Class of 2000 where he participated in many sports. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 5 years, serving in Iraq. Following his return home he operated the family business, McGregor's Lawn Care.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Howden and grandmother, Elizabeth McGregor.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Howden of Alachua, FL; sister Michelle Matern of Alachua, FL; niece McKenna Matern; Fiancee' Samantha Rassum and her children, Sierra and Xander Russum of Gainesville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 N.W. 143rd Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the , 3801 NW 40th Terrace, Suite B, Gainesville, FL 32606-8151.
