Gainesville - William Harrison "Bill" Clements, age 72, a 40 year resident of Gainesville passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, September 29, 2013 due to heart failure. Bill was born February 1, 1941 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Harrison and Katherine Branson Clements. Bill grew up in Madisonville, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He graduated from Western Kentucky University where he received his degree in Business Administration and Economics. Bill's first love was his wife of fifty years, Renae Gray Clements. He partnered with Gruver and Associates for several years then worked for Waste Management, where he retired in 2011. An avid Gator fan, Bill was famous for his tailgating gatherings. He was founding president of the Gator Chapter of the Kentucky Colonels; a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #990; and the past president of "The Bunch". Bill and Renae traveled many parts of the world. Bill was an excellent photographer who loved to share his photos and stories. He never knew a stranger and left everyone with a smile from his never ending cache of funny jokes and stories.
In addition to Renae, celebrating his memory are his three daughters Catherine (Timothy) Beeny of Henderson, KY; Kendra (Michael) Pennell of Boca Raton, FL and Mary Kaye (Darcy) Ellis of DeLeon Springs, FL; grandchildren Felicia and Brandon Beeny, and Sarah and Marilyn Ellis; brother John Branson (Shirley) Clements of Madisonville, KY; best friend and brother-in law, Don (Elaine) Gray; sister-in-law Rhonda Osborne; brother-in-law David (Suzanne) Gray; nephews Wade and Ross Clements; niece Dr. Kimberly Kaye, nephew Clint Lavender; nieces, Stefani and Rachel Osborne; nephews Jordan and Hunter Gray; and his constant four legged companion, Massimo.
Bill would like to be remembered as a lover of life, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Rev. Dan Johnson, Senior Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Gainesville officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
