Gainesville - Mrs. Corene Croley Wetherington, 80, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Wetherington was born on November 16, 1932 in Thomasville, Georgia to the late Linton W. and Daisie Suber Croley, and was the youngest and last surviving of their eleven children. In 1954, she married Jimmy F. Wetherington, and after his service in the Navy, the family moved to Madison, FL, where he earned a degree from Madison Community College. They then moved to Gainesville in 1961, where he attended the University of Florida. Mrs. Wetherington was employed by the Soil Conservation Service (USDA) and by the Agricultural and Conservation Service (USDA) with a total of more than 32 years of service before her retirement in 1992.

Mrs. Wetherington was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville and will be remembered as a devoted wife. She always desired to serve others and to make them laugh.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jimmy F. Wetherington; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Joan and John St. Jacques of Tolland, CT, Tim and Melanie Parker, of Palatka, Nancy and Ken Davis, of Gainesville, and Julie Joyce, of Jacksonville; ten grandchildren, David St. Jacques, Brooklyn, NY, Jonathan (Andrea) St. Jacques, Danbury, CT, Lauren, Brooke and Seth Parker, Palatka, Ryan and Miles Davis, Gainesville, Kaitlin, Caroline, and Carson Joyce, Jacksonville, and one great grandson, Elijah David St. Jacques, Danbury, CT.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., in the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 14105 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, with Dr. John Fairless and Rev. Lynwood Walters, officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, Thomasville, Georgia. The family will receive friends Friday, November 1, 2013 from 4 to 6 P.M., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the .
