THOMAS JASPER, JR. 77

Newberry, FL - Thomas Jasper Darus, Jr., age 77 of Newberry, FL passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 in Gainesville, FL. He was born April 1, 1936 in Shamrock, FL to Thomas and Lena Darus. Mr. Darus served in the United States Air Force, and retired April 1, 2001 as the Plumbing Manager at Hughes Supply, Inc. Thomas couldn't wait to go to work each day, so he could be helpful to someone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Gator football and basketball. His greatest joy was his family and especially his grand boys. Mr. Darus was a member of the Newberry United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, J.T. "Jim" Darus and John L. "J.L." Darus, and a sister Myrtice Player. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Mary Katherine Darus, sons David Paige Darus (Cathy) and Thomas J. Darus, III, sisters Hazel Prevatt and Bettie Darus, and grandsons Jarrett, Tyler, Hunter, and Graham Darus.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Newberry United Methodist Church 24845 West Newberry Road Newberry, FL 32669. In honor of Tommy's request, casual attire will be worn, especially anything Gators. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Newberry United Methodist Church.
