Gainesville - James B. Willis, age 83 of Gainesville, FL passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 in Gainesville. He was born in Webster, FL on March 30, 1931 to David and Goldie Willis. Jim served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Carmick during the Korean War, and received the Korean Service and United Nations medals. Later he served in law enforcement in Alachua County for 15 years as a deputy for the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, an officer with the High Springs Police Department, and as the Town Marshall for the Town of LaCrosse.

He enjoyed fishing and was a loving husband. Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his sister Laverne Bice, and is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Darnell B. Willis, sisters-in-law Minnie Yarbrough and Joyce Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Antioch Cemetery in LaCrosse, FL, with military honors.
