Wardye Mae "Mema" Pruitt Wimpy, age 89, of Dahlonega, Ga., passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, Ga.
Wardye was a native of Lumpkin County and lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was retired from the Burlington Industries Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and was a member of Cavender Creek Baptist Church and the Cavender Creek Goodwill Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Pruitt and Pearl Anderson Pruitt; son-in-law, Clyde Mason; and two stepsons, Henley Wimpy and Carl Wimpy.
Wardye is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Mason, Dahlonega, Ga.; sons, Melvin Wimpy, Dahlonega, Ga., Jeff Wimpy and his fiancé, Tracey, and her children, Andrew and Amy Lathem, Adrian Lathem, and Zackary Lathem, of Gainesville, Ga., Jackie Wimpy and his fiancé, Donna, and her children, Brittney and Seth Tyner, of Cleveland, Ga.; sister, Louise Grindle, Dahlonega, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Hazel Pruitt, Dahlonega, Ga.; grandchildren, Chuck and Missy Mason, Jonathon and Aften Wimpy; granddaughter, Jennifer Wimpy and fiance, Dustin Blackstone, Dahlonega, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Heather and Judd Gravitt, Holly Mason, Lillie Wimpy, Hunter Mason, Coleman Wimpy, Aiden Wimpy, and Nikolas Wimpy; three stepsons; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wardye are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Stephen Adams will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Cavender Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.
