Robitaille, Walter Harvey - Marietta
Walter Harvey Robitaille, 87, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at New Horizon following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery for family only; Deacon Mike Kennedy will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Robitaille was born on Oct. 3, 1927, in Dracut, Mass., to the late Eva and Ted Robitaille. Mr. Robitaille was a retired U.S. Navy veteran of three wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. A tireless caregiver to his loving wife who suffered from memory loss, a loving father who suffered the loss of his only son in a tragic accident, he delighted in the birth of his granddaughters and recent birth of two great-granddaughters and grandson. He enjoyed woodworking, French caning, traveling, fishing, camping, visiting national parks across the country, bowling on a league in Oakwood and enjoying the antics of their five dogs. He was a member of St. Michael Church, where he was a member of the Rosary Society, hand beading over 1,000 Rosaries to be given to our active duty troops. He was an active member of The Fleet Reserve, and the family requests donations to the Disabled American Veterans Charity in lieu of flowers. Mr. Robitaille was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nanette (Sicard); and their son, Robert Robitaille, in 1976. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Jan (Greg Wojcik) of Atlanta and Elaine (Michael Fulbright) of Balsam, N.C.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Paige Wojcik (Will Lozier) of Atlanta, and Lyndsay Wojcik (Craig Larimer) of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Lily and Charley Lozier and Everett Larimer; two sisters, Germaine (Robitaille) Vivier and Therese (Robitaille) Vincent of Dracut, Mass.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His strength and spirt will remain in the hearts of those who he loved forever. Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504, is in charge of arrangements.
