Glover, Robert S.  
Aug. 30, 1929-April 27, 2016 Dr. Robert S. Glover, age 86 of Trenton, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016, at his home of natural causes. He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Christian County, Ky., the son of the late Robert G. and Ellen Spicer Glover. He was a member of the Trenton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He served in the U.S. Army where he was a first lieutenant and also with the 399th Regimen of the 100th Division Kentucky Reserve Unit. He served on the board of the Logan-Todd Regional Water Commission for 19 years and Chairman of the Board for 10 years. When he was a teenager he traveled with Bill Monroe's baseball team. He was first baseman for the FBC baseball team in Auburn, Ala, from 1965-1968. He worked closely with Jimmy Carter and Sonny Perdue before they both became governors. He developed the first major in Economics at Austin Peay State University and served as the first Chairman of the Economic Department. For over 50 years, he was on a college roster and he taught for over 25 years as well as doing research for 25 years. He taught at the following colleges and universities: Austin Peay State University, Texas A&M University, Stephen F. Austin University, University of Georgia, Brenau University, Embry Riddle, Tuskegee Institute and Auburn University. He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his wife, Peggy Barnett Glover; and one brother, Ned A. Glover. He is survived by two daughters, Lydia Phelps (Donald) of Huntsville, Ala., and Lycia Glover of Sandersville, Ga.; two sisters, Patty Campbell of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Linda Capps of Huntsville, Ala. Also surviving are three grandchildren. Visitation with the Glover family will be on Saturday from noon until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Trenton Baptist Church. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Trenton Baptist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Dean Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Edgewood Cemetery in Trenton. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Trenton Baptist Church.

Grant, Robert C.  
April 28, 2016 Dr. Robert C. Grant passed away on April 28, 2016, at 83 years of age. Dr. Grant was a kind man who served countless patients for 40 years through his medical practice in Gainesville, Ga. He was a loving husband and devoted father who was always available to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Geneva Grant; and his wife, Nancy Grant. He is survived by his children, Michelle Grant, Bob Grant and Phillip and Kathy Grant; grandchildren, Allison Grant, Lindsey Grant; family friend, Elizabeth Strickland; cousins, Linda Waldrip Rose, Joy Pethel, Colton Quinones, Loren Quinones, Adrian Quinones, Alex Garcia, Anthony Garcia and Matthew Pethel. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends. The family is grateful for the kind caregiving of Pat Abernathy and Michelle Osborn. A graveside service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., May 3, 2016, at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice and Hall County Humane Society.
