Hanie, Donald - Gainesville  
Mr. Donald Hanie, age 68, of Gainesville passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Ronnie Shiflett will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hanie was born on Jan. 27, 1947, in Gainesville, Ga., to the late Julius Cain and Jeanette Hanie. He was a retired custodian for Hall County Board of Education and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He is survived by his aunt, Mary Williamson of Gainesville; cousin, Mary Moore of Gainesville; cousin, Martha Williamson of Gainesville; cousin, Larry Moore of Gainesville. Holcomb, Carolyn Edmondson  
Carolyn Edmondson Holcomb died peacefully on March 16, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 21, 1939, in Brooks County, Ga., to John David and Fannie Bourquin Edmondson. She is survived by her three children, Tami Anderson, Tonya Boylston and Bryce Holcomb Jr.; her five grandchildren, Bobby Boylston, Rachel and Whit Anderson, and Hannah and Madison Holcomb; and her brothers, Dr. Steve Edmondson and Carl Edmondson. Carolyn attended public schools in Brooks County, graduating in 1957. She then graduated with an R.N. degree from Grady School of Nursing in 1960 and later graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Anesthesia in 1966. She was one of the first female nurse anesthetists in Georgia. She was married to Bryce W. Holcomb in 1960. They lived in Gainesville, Ga., for 33 years where Carolyn practiced anesthesia at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Lanier Park Hospital. The last 10 years of her practice were with Gwinnett Anesthesia Services, Lawrenceville and Duluth. Carolyn was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga., and Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Peachtree Corners, Ga. Carolyn's life was spent encouraging herself and others to be all you can be in the moment. She used her life to serve others through medicine and love of family and friends. Carolyn was a blessing to all that knew her. Services honoring her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga., on March 29, 2015, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations in her memory and in honor of her granddaughter, Hannah Holcomb, to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 3525 Piedmont Road NE, Building 6, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30305.
