Walker, Dessie Mae - Gainesville  
Mrs. Dessie Mae Walker, age 93, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Stacy Phillips and the Rev. Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late Claude and Stella Forrester Landers. She was one of the oldest members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Walker; sister, Nell Lancaster; brothers, Luther, Troy and Junior Landers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Roger Broom of Gillsville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Martha Walker of Chestnut Mountain; sisters, Ora Murphy, Ella Holcomb, Ruth Stinchcomb; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Dean Rockmore; sister-in-law, Louise Landers; grandchildren, Teresa Shubert of Winter Park, Fla.; grandsons and wives, Scott and Shanni Walker of Gainesville and Brandon and Allison Walker of Chestnut Mountain; great grandchildren, Blake Joiner, Colton and Karah Walker, Garrison and Dawson Walker; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Flowers will be accepted, but those who wish may make contributions to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 3650 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30504. Williams, Ann Allen - Gainesville  
Ann Allen Williams, born June 9, 1932, in Gainesville, Ga., died July 25, 2015, in her apartment at Smoky Springs Retirement Community, Gainesville. Ann was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, Gainesville; Berry College, Rome, Ga.; and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elsie Allen; and brother, Leroy Allen, all of Gainesville. Three summer vacations during college and seminary years were spent as a Baptist missionary in small south Texas towns. Upon seminary graduation, she returned to Texas to begin a 30-year teaching career at San Antonio's Mexican Baptist Bible Institute, now Baptist University of the Americas. For 48 years, Ann was the volunteer interpreter for deaf persons at San Antonio's First Baptist Church. She retired to Gainesville in 2003 and moved to Smoky Springs in 2013. Survivors in addition to husband of 57 years, Willis Williams, include daughters, Rhesa and husband, Steven Hecker of West New York City, N.J., Melea Williams of Wilmington, N.C.; granddaughters, Sarah and Larisa Benton of Wilmington; and grandson, Wesley Williams and wife, Erin of Oxford, N.C., and their daughter, Olivia. Other survivors are sister, Virginia Cornelison; and brother, Roger Allen and wife, Carolyn, all of Gainesville; and brother, George and wife, Chris of Hiawassee, Ga. There are many nieces, nephews, and cousins in North Georgia and beyond. Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 3401 Poplar Springs Church Road, Gainesville, with the Rev. David Matthews and the Rev. Ricky Thrasher officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to the Allen Mission Fund at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, The Gideons International, Baptist University of the Americas, or Berry College. Mr. Richard Hugh Williams Jr., age 89, of Flowery Branch passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at his residence with family. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Sam Parson will officiate. The family will receive friends 11-noon Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 15, 1925, to the late Richard Hugh Williams Sr. and Allie Wev Williams in Bartow, Fla. He was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. He was retired from Occidental Inc. where he was a systems consultant. Mr. Williams was also preceded in death by his brother, Mack Williams; and sister, Alice Mae Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 65 years, Myrtle Williams of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Shawn Williams of Homer; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Richard Hammer of Flowery Branch, and Kathy and Reggie Smith of Braselton; grandchildren, Steve Smith of Athens, Stephanie Savage of Winder and Ashley Hammer of Flowery Branch; great-grandchildren, Jake Savage and Alex Savage; several nieces and nephews.
