Brown, Patricia “Pat” Dolores Mooney - Gainesville  
Patricia "Pat" Dolores Mooney Brown, 84, of Gainesville passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Kennestone Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Wendy Cordova will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born on April 11, 1931, in Richmond, Va., to the late William Kennedy and Margaret Dolores Tierney Mooney. She was the owner of Ansley Hall of Cards and attended Gainesville First United Methodist Church. She was also a homemaker and a second mom to everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles B. Brown. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughters, Debbie Brown of Lawrenceville, Pam Watkins and husband Steve of Kennesaw; son, Stuart Brown of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; grandsons, Matt and Kyle Strashnick; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Joyce Mooney of Mechanicsville, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charles and Patricia Brown Scholarship, Virginia Tech Foundation, Virginia Tech, Gift Accounting (0336) 902 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061. Burt, Lillie “Christine” Jarrard - Dahlonega  
Mrs. Lillie "Christine" Jarrard Burt, age 82, of Dahlonega passed away on April 24, 2015, following a sudden illness. Mrs. Burt was born in Habersham County and lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church of Dahlonega and a member of Order of the Eastern Star Blue Mountain Lodge No. 333. Mrs. Burt is preceded in death by her parents, Rance Jarrard and Lelia Thurmond Jarrard; her twin sister, Corinne Hamilton; brothers, Arnold and Conley; and a son, John Michael Burt. Christine is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Johnny Burt; her daughters, Lynn (Larry) Armstrong of Dahlonega, Brenda (Peter) Knapp of Spartanburg, S.C., Jan Burt of Dahlonega, and Jeannine Burt of Dahlonega; sister, Virginia Jarrard of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Trent (Brandi) Armstrong, Troy (Melody) Armstrong, Shelly (Kevin) Riddle, Stefanie (Richard) Yoon, Sebastian Knapp, Jesse Rockmore, and Jordan Rockmore; great-grandchildren, Kayla Armstrong, Karlee Armstrong, Jackson Riddle, Baby Yoon due in August, Yazzmyn Milligan, and Jeramy Milligan. Numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 27, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Lance Fuller will officiate. Carter, Daisy Grace Gibson - Gainesville  
Daisy Grace Gibson Carter passed away on April 30, 2015. She was born on March 16, 1925, in Union City, Ga., to the late Walter Murrah and Daisy Adelia Gibson. She attended West Fulton High School in Atlanta, Ga., then began working for Southern Bell. She married Benjamin Hill Carter Sr. in November 1954, and they moved to Gainesville, where she and Ben had two children. She worked as a church secretary for First Baptist Church for two years, then worked at Southern Bell in Gainesville until July 1957. She then became a full-time mother and a well-known community volunteer. Mrs. Carter volunteered at the Hall County Hospital (now Northeast Georgia Medical Center) for 33 years, and spent 18 years volunteering with the American Red Cross. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, participated in the choir for many years, and taught fifth and seventh grade Sunday School classes. She was a member of the PTAs for the Gainesville schools, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and served many years with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed the local Garden Club, as well as playing in a bridge club and playing golf. Mrs. Carter and her husband were known as staunch supporters of both Gainesville High School and the University of Georgia, holding season tickets for football and basketball games. They were also long-time supporters of the Georgia women's gymnastics team. They were charter members of the Chattahoochee Country Club and members of the Gainesville Elks Club. Mrs. Carter is remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, a proud grandmother, and a loving and loyal mother-in-law, sister, aunt, volunteer, and friend. She dedicated her life to endeavors that supported and helped others. Mrs. Carter is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Trish Carter, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy McKellar, Argyle, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Carter and his wife Abigail, and Lauren Burnette and her husband Bryan, all of Gainesville, Stephanie Staton and her husband Conrad, Trinidad, Texas, and Alex, Nick, and Zach McKellar, all of Argyle, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Edward Gibson, Fayetteville, Ga., sister, Thelma Irene "Gibbie" Buch, Hackettstown, New Jersey, brother-in-law Roy Causey, Fayetteville, Ga., and numerous nieces, nephews, and their extended families. Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Hill Carter Sr., and three sisters - Alice Eugenia Wallace, Ruth Aline Lovelace and Lillie Mae Causey. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Little-Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville. The Rev. Don Ormsbee and the Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. at Little-Davenport Funeral Home.
