Dec. 7, 1926-April 30, 2016 Rayford Leonard Vickers, age 89, of Dacula, formerly of Flowery Branch, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, following a short illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Fields officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, from noon to 2 p.m., prior to the service. Mr. Vickers was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Ellenton, Ga., to Leonard Butler Vickers and Maeola Mock Vickers. Mr. Vickers served in the United States Navy and was retired from Georgia Power. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville and was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Vickers is survived by his wife, Charlotte H. Vickers of Dacula, formerly of Flowery Branch; daughter, Suzanne Gustavel of Dacula; grandson, John David Gustavel of Jefferson; grandson, A.J. July 16, 1943-April 27, 2016 Mrs. Joyce Willis, age 72, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Gwinnett Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. John Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen Samuel will officiate. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the funeral home. Mrs. Willis was born July 16, 1943, in Gainesville, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Eldon Goss Sr. and Lula (Randolph) Goss. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eldon Goss Jr. and Emmett Goss Sr. Mrs. Willis is survived by her husband of 52 years, Budell Willis Sr. of Gainesville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, CMSgt Budell Willis Jr. and Carmen Willis of Jefferson, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine D. Stewart and Tommy L. Stewart Jr. of Flowery Branch, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie L. Joseph and Charles Joseph of Flowery Branch, Ga.; son, Frederick Willis of Gainesville, Ga.; grandchildren, Kolesha Willis, Kasean Willis, Spencer Willis, Terance Stewart, DJ Willis, Maurice C. Oct. 4, 1948-April 28, 2016 Ms. Vicki Peeples Allen Edmonds, age 67, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 28, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Vicki was born Oct. 4, 1948, in Gainesville, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Wilburn Peeples and Mrs. Willonelle (Yopp) Peeples. Vicki was a graduate of Gainesville High School. She is survived by her husband, Tony Edmonds of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Clarke Barton; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Hardin; stepdaughter and husband, Ginger Mohammed and Mohammed Maaz; Emily Edmonds; and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cecelia Peeples; grandchildren, Grace Anne and Kate Barton, Ashely Howell, Lauren Jackson, Julia Hardin, Jerith, Madelyn and Isabelle Peck. Died April 28, 2016 Dr. Robert C. Grant passed away on April 28, 2016, at 83 years of age. Dr. Grant was a kind man who served countless patients for 40 years through his medical practice in Gainesville, Ga. He was a loving husband and devoted father who was always available to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Geneva Grant; and his wife, Nancy Grant. He is survived by his children, Michelle Grant, Bob Grant, and Phillip and Kathy Grant; grandchildren, Allison Grant, Lindsey Grant; family friend, Elizabeth Strickland; cousins, Linda Waldrip Rose, Joy Pethel, Colton Quinones, Loren Quinones, Adrian Quinones, Alex Garcia, Anthony Garcia and Matthew Pethel. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends. The family is grateful for the kind caregiving of Pat Abernathy and Michelle Osborn. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, 11 a.m. at Alta Vista Cemetery. Aug. 16, 1926-April 28, 2016 Mrs. Mary Colleen Poole Howard, age 89, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Alta Vista Cemetery. Mrs. Howard was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Lula, Ga., the oldest daughter of nine children born to the late Joe Calvin Poole and Gartrell Miller Poole. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Mary's warm beautiful smile was a reflection of her kind spirit. She was known for being thoughtful and selfless to all who knew her. She led by example with her strong values, work ethic and taking great pride in her home, family and especially her children and grandchildren. She had a special touch with plants and enjoyed working in her yard and was a member of the Gainesville Garden Club. She also loved UGA football. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Howard; and daughter, Judy Howard. Mary is survived by her daughter, Kay Blackstock of Gainesville; son Joe Howard, also of Gainesville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
