Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church for Annie Louise Sims Edwards, age 84, of Murrayville. The Rev. Darren Palmer and the Rev. Larry Watkins will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:30-2 p.m. at the church. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Edwards passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Lumpkin County to the late Roy Sims and Rae Peck Sims. She had worked for a number of years for Paul Smith Cleaners and was a very good cook. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lumpkin County and at the church was a member of the Mt. Olive Every Ready Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred "Bud" Edwards; brothers, Ralph Sims, Brantley Sims, Kenneth Sims; sisters, Lucille Gooch and Robbie Stevens.
Although Annie did not have children of her own, she was known as a mother and grandmother to many. She enjoyed staying busy and working in her many flower gardens.
Survivors include, sisters, Margaret Sims, Murrayville, Mary Sims, Murrayville; sisters-in-law, Susie Sims, Sumter, S.C., Geneva Pittman, Gainesville, Betty Edwards, Murrayville, Sarah Edwards Parks, Gainesville; special niece, Carolyn Sullens, Murrayville; special great-great-nephews, Nathan Greene, Brennan Greene, Landan Green, Noah Bonine; special great-great-nieces, Olivia Sullens, Hartleigh Bonine; and a number of other nieces; nephews; and great-nieces; and great-nephews.
