Gerald “Jay” Puskenalis

Gerald "Jay" Puskenalis, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 2, at home. He had been retired from Kubota for five years.
He was predeceased by his devoted parents, George and Helen (Judski) Puskenalis. Jay is survived by his godson, Alex Kaminsky of Concord, N.C. He has numerous relatives throughout the states of New York, California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan and Florida. His first cousins were extremely close with him. And Jay was proud of his Polish roots.
For over 40 years, Jay was a member of the SCCA family, the Sports Car Club of America, where he had a close network of friends, at Road Atlanta, and Watkins Glen Grand Prix Race Course. Initially, Jay started out racing his Toyota and working as an EMT. Over the years, he worked at flagging, communications and emergency services.
Jay was a kind, outgoing guy who made friends easily. He was that rare individual that would drop everything to help a friend. We will remember Jay mostly for his sense of humor and his huge heart.
A service to celebrate Jay's life will be held Sunday, March 9, at 4 p.m., at Flanagan's Funeral in Buford, Ga. The family service and burial is planned for July 5 in Johnson City, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gerald Puskenalis Memorial Fund, c/o Susan Batla, 3638 Shutesbury St., Mount Pleasant, SC 29466.
