James E. Carr Jr., 82, of Oakwood passed away quietly at home on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Pirkle officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Carr was born Oct. 28, 1930, in St. Louis, Mo., to the late James E. and Beatrice Nunley Carr. He served in the U.S. Army as an Electronics Instructor for two years.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Judith Cohoon Carr, Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, James E. Carr III and Kennie Carr, Richmond, Va.; son, Joel G. Carr, Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Carr Russo and Gary Russo, Atlanta; grandchildren, James T. Carr, Meredith Carr, Abigail Russo and Jillian Russo.
