Mr. John Edwin Hulsey, age 85, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Hulsey and the Rev. James Elrod will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hulsey was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Cumming, Ga., to the late Conner Wyatt Hulsey and Ruby Samples Hulsey. He was the owner/operator of Acme Exterminating Company for over 40 years. John served in the U.S. Air Force for three years and attended Lakewood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Evans Hulsey; his daughter, Margaret McNally; granddaughter, Tina Maddox; grandson, David Tetrault; and two of his sisters, Alene Abercrombie and Jean Veal.
Mr. Hulsey is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Kaye Hulsey of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Ray Smalley of Gaffney, S.C.; Deborah and Jack Christie, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Connie and Andrew Watjen of Woodstock, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, W. Talmadge and Jimmie Hulsey of Gainesville; sisters, Montree Stephens of Otto, N.C., Euphemia Stephens of Gainesville and Olene Stevens of Murrayville; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Ronnie Green Heart Center, 743 Spring St. NE, Gainesville, GA 30501.
