Madeline B. Akins "Blondie," age 86, of Gainesville passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Akins was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Gainesville, Ga., to the late Reuben Walter Bone and the late Jessie Bell Pittman Bone. She was retired from Chicopee at Buford and Avery Label and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, H.T. McGee; second husband, Lee Akins Jr.; brothers, Thomas E. Bone and James Bone.
Mrs. Akins is survived by her son, Jerry L. McGee, Flowery Branch; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Amos Stover, Gillsville; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Betty Bone, Anderson, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and J. Lamar Grier, Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Winnie and Jack Gresham, Piedmont, S.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vera Bone, Travelers Rest, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Mira and Dennis Eubanks, Greenville, S.C.; friend, neighbor and caregiver, Betty Williams, Oakwood; a number of nieces; and nephews; and cousins.
