Marie Allen, age 90, of Gainesville passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at New Horizons North following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Kersh, the Rev. Daryl Womack and the Rev. R.L. West will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Gainesville to the late Lloyd Winchester and Viola West Winchester. She was a homemaker and a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 26 years and one of the oldest members. Marie was a loving wife of 63 years, as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Marie was a Christian mother whom her four daughters will miss very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Barnette Allen; son, Malon Gerald Allen; her sons-in-law, Jimmie Millwood, Milton Cash and Tommy Martin; brother, Lloyd Winchester; and sister, Mildred Allen.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Joyce Millwood of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Clabus Adams of Gainesville; daughters, Kathy Cash of Gainesville and Janet Martin of Gainesville; grandchildren, Tony and Sheri Millwood, Tim Millwood, Shelia Thrasher, Scott Adams, Amy Cash, Casey and Stacey Cash, Nick and Megan Martin and Rusty and Erin Martin; great-grandchildren, Jade Millwood, Jena Millwood, Kyle Thrasher and Carson Cash; sisters, Evelyn Whitfield of Flowery Branch and Bobbie Pass of Gainesville; and brother, Billy Winchester of Augusta, Ga.
