Mary Smith McIntosh

Mary Smith McIntosh, age 84, of Gillsville passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at her residence. Mary was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of the late George and Ollie May Smith and was a graduate of Texas Christian University. As a military mother, she raised seven children, moving frequently. Mary was a person who never took time for herself and was always helping others. The joy of her life and her occupation was working with special needs children with the Babies Can't Wait Program and helping them with their lives. A former resident of Savannah, Mary enjoyed renovating homes in the historic district of the city. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Paula McIntosh.
Survivors include, Judy Moore, Gillsville; her children, Kent and Faye McIntosh and Kara McIntosh Sylve, all of Mobile, Ala.; Darcy McIntosh and Larry Tate, Cumming; Gunn McIntosh, Midway, Ga.; Robert and Lynn McIntosh, Statesboro, Ga.; Hilary McIntosh, Bogalusa, La.; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Private family services will be held.
