Minnie Louise Tharpe

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in Wards Funeral Home Chapel for Ms. Minnie Louise Tharpe, 90, of Gainesville, Ga. The Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1–2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Tharpe was born in Briscoe, N.C., and had lived most of her life in Kernersville, N.C. She was a retired Hairdresser and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kernersville. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Be Friendly's. Ms. Tharpe had lived the past four years in Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Deaton, that lost his life serving in World War II; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Joyce Tharpe, Gainesville, Ga.; grandchildren, Travis Tharpe, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Cassie Tharpe, Gainesville, Ga.; niece, Magalean Barnes, Greensboro, N.C.; and very special friends, Carson and Myrtle Melvin, Kernersville, N.C.
