Nettie Abernathy Kemp, age 85, of Gainesville passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.
She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in White County to her parents, Martin L. and Louisa Abernathy.
She was employed by Owen Osborne for 16 years, and retired after 30 years of employment from Leece Neville. She was a long time member of South Bend United Methodist Church.
After retirement, she stayed active with church activities; and enjoyed playing Rook for many years of Saturdays with her friends, Vivian, Wanna, and Bernice
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Myrtle Abernathy, Madleane Holland and Lois Dispain; and a brother, Vernon Abernathy. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Ann Kemp.
Survivors include her brother, Phillip Turner, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Elizabeth Kemp, Clarkesville; Steve and Retha Kemp, Oakwood; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; Darlene and Joey Terrell and their children Joey Jr. and Katie, Clarkesville; Meredith and Petrit Llesh, and their children Klara, Martin, and Aleksander of Tirana, Albania; grandson, Jonathan and Malissa Kemp, and their children, Bradley and Emma of Marietta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at South Bend United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Bochert and the Rev. Richard Long will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, but those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to South Bend United Methodist Church.
