Vester “Leon” Autry

Mr. Vester "Leon" Autry, 70, of Gainesville passed away Oct. 27, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Autry was born June 2, 1943, in Greenwood, S.C., to the late Thomas and Ethel Dyer Autry. He served his country in the U.S. Marines and was on the honor guard that guarded the route of President Kennedy's remains to the cemetery, and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Garnett, Jeff and Don; daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Breazeale.

Survivors include, wife, Shirley Joyce Autry, Gainesville; son, Randy Breazeale, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gail Breazeale, Gainesville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Evans, Cleveland.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Maitlyn Laforce will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
