Estelle Cora Abernathy

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Miss Estelle Cora Abernathy, age 86, of Gainesville, formerly of Robertstown. Miss Abernathy passed away Monday, July 6, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Pirkle officiating. Interment will follow in Chattahoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Miss Abernathy was born in White County on Oct. 6, 1922, to George C. Abernathy and Lela Cantrell Abernathy. She lived most of her life in Gainesville, where she was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice Stover; and brothers, Asa Abernathy, Bill Abernathy, Edward Abernathy and Hugh Abernathy.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara Stone of Gainesville; brothers, Jack Abernathy, Cleveland, Earl Abernathy, Perryton, Texas, and Irvin Abernathy of Panama City, Fla.; special friend, Dian Emmett of Gainesville; as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
