Lucille Garrett Beck

Lucille Garrett Beck, 94, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at her home of 78 years following a brief period of declining health.
Born Jan. 31, 1915, in Gaddistown in Union County to the late Lewis and Dona Justus Garrett, Mrs. Beck was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County having joined the church in 1928. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Beck; son, Floyd Beck; sister, Marie Moore; and brothers, David Garrett, Bud Garrett and Cecil Garrett.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Kathy and Bobby Chester, Dahlonega, Bill Beck, Dahlonega, Steve Barker, Braselton, and Bruce and Alicia Barker, Franklin, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Noah and Anlee Chester, Garrett Beck, Stephanie and Kelly Jones, Derek and Brigette Barker, Holly and Michael Neighbours, all of Dahlonega, Josh and Melodie Barker, Gainesville, Autumn Barker, Virginia, and Owen and Bennett Barker, Franklin, Tenn.; great-great-grandchildren, Serenity and Grant Jones, Dahlonega, and Devin Barker, Dahlonega; she is also survived by three nephews and four nieces; and as well as a great host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Michael Rodgers, the Rev. Gerald Edmondson, the Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Greg Long will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem-Jones Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
