Paul Nelson Pethel, 74, of Talmo passed away on Aug. 27, 2013, following a period of declining health. Born on Aug. 26, 1939, he was the son of the late E.J. and Winnie Lenora Bloodworth Pethel. A lifetime resident of Talmo, he was retired from General Motors, having worked on the assembly line. He was a member of Talmo Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jennie Lou Underwood.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Pethel, Talmo; children, David Pethel, Amy Gould, Terry Stubblefield, Amy Poss, Beverly Bagwell; sisters, Shirley Watkins, Margaret Beauford; brother, Johnny Pethel; grandchildren, Megan Poss, Chase Poss, Clay Gould, Kayla Gould, Mandy Bagwell; and a number of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Talmo Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Spence and the Rev. Frankie Spivey will officiate. Interment will be in Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.
