Mrs. Bernice Nix Palmer, age 96, of Clermont passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at a private health care following an extended illness.|
Mrs. Palmer was born in Arnoldsville, Ga., to the late Benjamin and Molly Fields Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Nix and Carlton Palmer; sister, Runie McGee; brothers, Ira Simmons and Grover Simmons. Mrs. Palmer was a retired schoolteacher with the Hall County Board of Education, and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Benny and Mary Lou Nix, Clermont; daughters and sons–in- law, Maxine and Jack Oliveres, Napa, Calif.; Rebecca and Hans Schacht, Sautee; grandchildren, Melody Marlowe, Marty Nix, Marlena Nix, Lori Peppers, all of Clermont; Rusty Boals, Sandy Boals, both of Napa, Calif.; Sean Boals, Fairfield, Calif.; Chris Boals, Vacaville, Calif.; Staton West, Wiesbaden, Germany; Hanna Schacht, Sautee; stepchildren, Caroline Gamel, Lithia Springs; Sharon Lee Morrison, Peachtree City; Larry Palmer, West Virginia; 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in White County. The Rev. Tommy Hunt, Dr. Joe Vernon and the Rev. Shon Peppers will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
