Mr. Billy Calhoun, age 66, of Sugar Hill, Ga., passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside after many long illnesses on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Juanita Moore Calhoun, Sugar Hill, Ga.; children, Lisa and Joe Ingram, Gainesville, Ga., and David Calhoun, Oakwood, Ga.; grandchildren, Brittany and Brian Burris, Winder, Ga., Brianna and Michael Harding, Charlottesville, Va., Alan Brown, Athens, Ga., Crystal Calhoun, Beaumont, Texas, and Malachi Calhoun, Winder, Ga.; great-grandson, Braxton Burris; sister, Susan Calhoun York, St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers and sister-in-law, Bob and Paulette Calhoun, Raleigh, N.C., and Mike Calhoun, Washington, D.C.; sisters-in-law, Norma Moore Porter, Buford, Ga., Frances Moore Gober, Buford, Ga., and Rita Moore, Dawsonville, Ga.; brother-in-law, Ned Moore, Monroe, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved African gray parrot, Rebel. Mr. Calhoun was born June 3, 1947, in Columbus, Ga. He was a 1965 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga., and attended LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office for a number of years and also worked for General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville, Ga. He was a Boy Scout leader. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at noon in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, Ga., with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation or the .
