Gertrude Remell Elliott, 81, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Dewberry Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Henry Loggins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Elliott was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Gainesville, Ga., to the late William and Willie Jones. She was a graduate of Clermont High School and grew up helping her parents on the farm. Her first job was with Barry Manufacturing Co., then after closing she was employed with Gainesville Manufacturing Co. for several years. After that she was employed with Fieldale Farms. Trudy wanted to help other people so she became employed with Home Health Care. After retirement she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Elliott was a member of Dewberry Baptist Church No. 1 and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Odus Elliott; her daughter, Cheryl Darlene Dyer; and her brother, Tex Jones.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her daughter, Brenda Henriksen, Cleveland; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Larry Waldroop, Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Billy R. and Pam Elliott, Gainesville; daughter, Linda Jenkins, Smyrna; sister, Mac Kelm, Abbott, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara Nell and Willard Fuller, Murrayville; Thelma and James "Sonny" Helton, Clermont; and Ruth and Lyman Martin, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Thay and Janice Jones, Clermont; sister-in-law, Violet Jones, Gainesville; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
