Mrs. Mary Evelyn Harris, age 85, of Flowery Branch passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Orlando, Fla., following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Buford with interment following at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Garner will officiate. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris was born Dec. 18, 1928, to the late Joseph and Jane Gillen in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was retired from Southern Bell, where she was a Programmer and was a volunteer at Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., where she won the Volunteer of the Year award. Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Facondo; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Spalletti.
Survivors include son, Frank Spalletti of Flowery Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Harris of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Jeff and Kate Harris, Cindy and Ken Camp, John and Jana Shelton, Tina Shelton and Sherman Spalletti; five great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Gillen; sister, Clare Gillen, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
