Mr. Rodger Lee Bucy, age 89, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his residence surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Fenlon will officiate. The family will receive friends 6–8 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mr. Bucy was born July 28, 1924, to the late Willie Brooks and Irma Bell Bucy in Puryear, Tenn. He was a member of American Legion Post 7 in Gainesville and retired from the truck refrigeration business. Like so many of the Greatest Generation, he was proud of his service in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient for wounds received in France on Jan. 4, 1945.
Survivors include: wife of 56 years, Betty Hames Bucy; son, David Bucy; daughter, Angela Chandler, all of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, William D. and Lucy Bucy of Puryear, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and extended family, Angie Wood, Taylor Wood and Erin and Clark Williams.
