Honorable Judge Steven C. Adams, 61, of Lula passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011.

Mr. Adams was born on March 13, 1949, in Clarke County to the late Honorable Judge F. Jack Adams and Joye Hipps Adams. He attended Habersham County Schools and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy. Mr. Adams then graduated from Vanderbilt with a bachelor's degree in political science. Soon after, he graduated from the Emory University School of Law, with a doctorate degree in law and came back home to join his father in their law practice, Adams, Ellard, and Frankum. Mr. Adams served as the Municipal Court judge for the city of Cornelia, served on the board of directors of Community Bank and Trust and was the past president of the Habersham County Rotary Club of Cornelia. He was of the Baptist faith, an avid blues enthusiast and a charter member of the National Blues Society. Mr. Adams was partial founder and developer of the Fourlanders Ham Radio Club. He was also the chair member of the Bushman Harmonica Company and loved life to the fullest, spending as much time with his family as he could.

Survivors include his loving wife of 14 years, Shirley Adams of Lula; daughter, Penny Mayo Stevens and her fiancé, John Bridges of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Gail and Harold Mullins of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim Mayo of Rutledge; grandchildren, Travis Stevens and his fiancé, Lindsey Warr of Lula, Jake and Jessica Stevens of Lula, Ben Stevens of Lula, Zack Mayo of Rutledge, Chase Mullins of Lula, Jessie Mayo of Rutledge, Courtney Mayo of Rutledge and Abi Mullins of Lula; great-grandchildren, Austin Towe of Oakwood and Levi and Sara Stevens of Lula; one aunt, Nancy Hipps Stovall of Cornelia; and a cousin and her husband, Marcia and Bill Loyd of Cornelia.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with Dr. Eric Spivey, Chief Rick Darby, and Honorable Steve Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin.
