Mr. Walt Pendley, 82, of Oakwood, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.

Born in Marble Hill, Ga., on July 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Sam and Amanda Mealer Pendley. He was retired from Warren Featherbone as a shipping supervisor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Rejoice Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane Reed Pendley of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Mike Brewer of Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Gloria Pendley, Blake and Rena Pendley, both of Oakwood, Edwin and Michelle Pendley of Gainesville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Lillian Mercer of Nelson, Ga., and Christine Walker of Jasper, Ga.,; brother, William Pendley of Jasper; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. Joel Shadburn will officiate. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.
