William L. "Wick" Dillashaw Jr., age 85, of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013. |
Born on Jan. 30, 1928, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late William Luther Dillashaw Sr. and the late Florence Nix Dillashaw.
Mr. Dillashaw was a retired counselor for the Georgia Department of Education. He was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. He was a man who lived a Christian life in every aspect. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and he also followed the political arena actively. Mr. Dillashaw was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in Guam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dillashaw.
Survivors include loving wife of 64 years, Phoebe Cook Dillashaw, Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and JoAnne Dillashaw and Bob and Elaine Dillashaw, all of Cornelia; grandchildren, Clay and Bonnie Dillashaw, Chris Dillashaw, Taylor and Natalie Houston; six great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hodgkins, Atlanta.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Tom Meborn and Mr. Dorsey Wilbanks officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour.
