Lila Mae Chambers Duckett died peacefully at her home in Banks County on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. Born May 10, 1916, she was the second of eight children of the late J.M. and Mellie Chambers. Mrs. Duckett was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The Guest Book is expired.
After the death of her mother in 1934, Lila cared for her younger sisters and brother before marrying Young Duckett and starting a family. A homemaker and the heart of the Duckett and Chambers families, she lovingly cared for all by sharing her faith and enjoyment of gardening and cooking. She accepted her Lord in 1932, joined the Line Baptist Church, where she was the eldest member. Mrs. Duckett faithfully awaited and prayed to join her heavenly Father.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her precious son, Stanley Duckett; sisters, Madeline Chambers Martin, Ruth Chambers Sharp, and an infant sister; brothers, J.T., Loyd, Eugene, and Junior Chambers.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah (Tommy) White; son, David Duckett; daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Duckett; grandchildren, Karen (Wes) Crumley, Jason (Natalie) White, Phillip (Kim) Duckett, and Timmy (Michelle) Duckett; seven precious great-grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Crumley, Taylor, Ben, Julie, Ethan, and Brittany Duckett; special brother-in-law, Marion Sharp; special sisters-in-law, Imogene Chambers, Bonnie Chambers, and Frances Ellen Chambers; half-sisters, Peggy Bennett and Helen Brown.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
