Obituary Condolences

Mrs. Edith "Moie" Joy, 88, of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22 at 4 p.m. in the Little and Davenport Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Dwight Joy and the Rev. Paul Flynn will officiate.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Born in Dawson County, Mrs. Joy had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Lester and Clara Pinson Medlin. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother; she was loved by all that knew her.

Survivors include her husband, James E. Joy, Gainesville; children, Linda and Taylor Cantrell, Pendergrass, Jamie and Charles Phillips, Flowery Branch, Ronnie and Gaynelle Joy, Gainesville, Jimmy and Patricia Joy, Lawrenceville, Karen and Rick Keeler, Gainesville, Billy and Brenda Joy, Gainesville, Randy and Wanda Joy, Baldwin, Cindy and R.L. Mrs. Joy is preceded in death by her sons, Danny Joy and Michael Joy; grandchild, Buck Cantrell; great-grandchild, Destiny Moses; brother, Ray Medlin; sisters, Estelle Redmond and Idell Hooper.

A special thanks and gratitude to the Joys' neighbor and friend, Drs. Michael and Lori Lebow.
