Mrs. Sara McLendon Veatch, 91, born Feb. 7, 1923, in Cedartown passed away after an extended illness.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Jack Lowry Veatch. She is survived by daughters, Sally Veatch, Gainesville, and Jackie (David) Walker, Anderson, S.C.; as well as grandsons, Dr. Jackson (Dr. Lauren) Walker, Anderson, S.C., and Boone Walker, Greenville, S.C.
"Sis" graduated as valedictorian from Cedartown High School and received a bachelor's degree from Georgia State College for Women. She retired as a home economics teacher from Cedartown High School.
Devoted to First Baptist Church of Cedartown, she taught the beginners 5-year-old Sunday school class for over 50 years. As co-owner of Sis and Sara's Flower Shop, she was known for her floral designs and wedding planning expertise. Sis served her community through faithful involvement with the local food bank, planning activities for a retirement home and years of service to the Arts Council. She was a sustaining member of the Cedartown Junior League.
Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Cedartown, on Thursday, May 29, at 1 p.m., with visitation after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Cedartown, or Eagle Ranch, Gainesville, Ga.
