Kathryn Gibbs Parker, 86, of Gainesville, passed away on June 28, 2014 at Willowwood Nursing Center.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parker was born on March 30, 1928 in Gainesville, Ga. to the late Grover Cleveland Gibbs Sr. and Nancy Anna Edge Gibbs. She was retired from Leece-Neville and also worked at the Royal Theater and was a member of the Salvation Army. "Sis" as she was known to family and friends, had an incredible zest for life and her laughter brightened many family occasions. She was beloved by her many friends, relatives, and co-workers at Leece-Neville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Parker, Jr.; sisters, Lavinia Skinner, and Mary Cook; brothers, Edgar Gibbs, Grover "Bud" Gibbs Jr., Alvin Gibbs, and Hubert Gibbs Sr.

Mrs. Parker is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Russell Lane of Duluth, Ga.; son, Greg Parker of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Steve Martin of Gainesville. She cherished her grandchildren, granddaughter, Robin Lane of Statesboro, Ga.; grandson, Kevin Martin of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter and husband, Brittany and Cody Mize of Gainesville; great-grandson, Parker Mize of Gainesville; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Gibbs, and Sallie Gibbs Chapman both of Gainesville.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the Salvation Army.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504, is in charge of arrangements.
