Beverly Fite Woodward Palmer, 88, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. She was of Methodist faith and a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Mrs. Palmer graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1942, and North Georgia College in 1944. She received a bachelor of science from Alabama College in 1946. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and founding member of Kappa Delta Sorority at North Georgia College, and a member of Dahlonega Woman's Club. Mrs. Palmer is preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. James Gordon Woodward; and son, Dr. Jeffery Gordon Woodward; sisters, Kathryn Salyer and Alline Collier.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by husband, Lawrence Wayne Palmer; her children, Kathy and Steve Moore of Dahlonega; Lynn and Scott Thurman of Atlanta; brothers and sisters, Burgess and Helen Fite of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, April and Jim Neese of Alexander City, Ala.; Stuart and Anna Moore of Gainesville, Ga.; Rachel and Brendon Todd of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Patrick Neese and Kate Moore.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Entombment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 2-4 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Gene Davis and Dr. Jeff Ross will be officiating.
