Mr. William "Bill" Gurley, age 84, of Flowery Branch passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010. His first wife, Lucille Parker Gurley, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Mary West Gurley, Flowery Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryll and Ervin Crow, Flowery Branch; grandson, Shane and Tammy Hicks, Flowery Branch; stepdaughter, Sandra and Frank Strickland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Allen and Jeanette Gurley, Cleveland and Arnold and Agnes Gurley, Royston; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Charles Langston, Seneca, S.C.; sister-in-law, Barbara Gurley, Huntsville, Ala.; stepchildren, Newman K. West, Gainesville and Linda Hutcherson, Virginia Beach, Va.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Roy Swansey, Flowery Branch; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gladston and Pat Parker, Flowery Branch and Larry Parker, Flowery Branch; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Gurley was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Dahlonega. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge No. 212 F&AM. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Rev. David Matthews and the Rev. Larry Peace officiating. Interment will be at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
