John Hollis Pearce Obituary

John Hollis Pearce, age 29, of Gainesville, Ga., died Monday, July 11, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at Jones Chapel in Woodbury, Ga., with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home in Woodbury.

Mr. Pearce was born June 1, 1982, in Columbus, Ga., a son of the late Hollis U. Pearce and Mary Ruth Gordon Pearce.

He was a graduate of North Cobb High School, attended the University of Georgia and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He assisted his parents in the operation of their many business interests in the Atlanta area and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his paternal grandparents, Thomas Albert Pearce and Gladys Brown Pearce.

Survivors include his maternal grandparents, Woodrow W. Gordon and Mattie Wills Gordon of Woodbury, Ga.; aunts and uncles, Linda Gordon Lane and her husband Gene of Woodstock, Ga., Alvin Gordon and his wife Charla of Sedalia, Mo., Charlie Pearce and his wife Gretchan, and William Thomas Pearce, all of Gainesville, Ga., and Suzanne Pearce Johnson and her husband Judd of Riverdale, Ga.; also numerous cousins. Flowers will be accepted, or those who desire may make memorial contributions to Jones Chapel, P.O. Box 624, Woodbury, GA 30293 or Woodbury Baptist Church, P.O. 117, Woodbury, GA 30293.
