Emmett Richmond Gaddy, age 89 of Gainesville passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.|
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, from 6-9 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaddy was born on Feb. 24, 1923, in Asheville, N.C., to the late William Hardy Gaddy and the late Mabell Gay Taylor Gaddy. He served four years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Gaddy was retired from Merritt Construction as a heavy equipment operator and he was a member of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by his sons, Michael William Gaddy and Phillip James Gaddy.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Gaddy, Gainesville; daughter, Jean Ann Chandler, Gainesville; daughter, Alice Gaye Gaddy, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Joan and David Harkins, Gainesville; son, Geoffrey John Gaddy, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, E.G. and Kelly Seagraves, Gainesville; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo Reed, Pendergrass; sister, Molly Loggins, Dahlonega; sister, Helen McDonald, Dahlonega; sister, Eva Jane Osbourne, Carnesville; and brother, Ernest Gaddy, Lula.
He was very loving, caring and giving man. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a big passion for hunting and fishing; a God fearing man that was loved by everyone who knew him.
