Jewell Stringer Obituary

Mrs. Jewell Stringer, age 74, of Murrayville, Ga. (Lumpkin County), passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Jewell was born in White County, March 15, 1939, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was retired from the Burlington Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega, and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in White County.

She was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Waldrop Dillard, and was also preceded in death by several brothers; and sisters; grandsons, Wayne Simpson and Chance Stringer.

Jewell is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bruce Stringer, Murrayville; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Reggie Powell, Murrayville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Becky Stringer, Marietta, Ga.; Cory and Marian Stringer, Staunton, Va.; sisters, Ferria Mae Stovall, Gainesville; and Joyce Deaton, Clermont, Ga.; grandchildren, Haley Stringer, Connor Stringer, Caden Stringer, Travis Powell and Josh Powell; great-grandchildren, Major Powell, Tristen Powell, Grace Powell, and Jackson Carswell. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Jewell are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Solid Rock Baptist Church in White County. The Rev. Marty Murphy, the Rev. Jerry Whitlock, and the Rev. Preston Tritt will officiate. Mrs. Stringer will lay in state at the church on Wednesday from 2-3 p.m.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon.
