Martin, Raynell Brannock - Galax  
Raynell Brannock Martin, 83, of Galax, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Virginia to the late Harden and Mattie Brannock. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Lee Martin. Survivors include children, Roger Lee Martin, Frank Odell Martin and wife, Michelle, Jeffrey Dean Martin and wife, Rose, Randy Scott Martin and wife, Isabel, Linda Kay Martin, Tammy Renee Sawyers and Crystal Gail Huff and husband, Terry; sister, Clara Brannock Bryant; 28 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Snow Hill Baptist Church at 1 p.m., with an hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Keith Ledford and Pastor Ernie Smith officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association, 4335 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Twin County Funerals is serving the family. Julio Cesar Barrios-Montes, 38, Galax, died Friday, March 20, 2015, in Bourbon, Ky. He was born May 7, 1976, in Nayarit, Mexico to Natividad Barrios and Rosalva Montes-Estrada. Survivors include his parents of Mexico; his wife, Yolanda Lopez; son, Jose Enrique Barrios-Lopez; and daughters, Erika Lopez and Rosa Angelica Barrios-Lopez, all of Galax; sisters, Alma Delia Barrios-Montes and Maria Guadalupe Reynoso-Montes; brothers, Fernando Barrios-Montes and Luis Angel Barrios-Montes, all of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held today, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 4 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with Henry Campo officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. after the funeral service. Burial will follow the visitation in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Edwards, Glenn R. - Laurel Fork  
Glenn R. Edwards, 63, of Laurel Fork, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital. He was born in Carroll County to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Hawks Edwards. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Judy Edwards of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Winston Reynolds and B.B. and Jeffrey Marshall, all of Laurel Fork; four grandchildren; brother, Donald Edwards of Cana; and sisters, Lois Rippey of Galax and Carolyn Barnes of Cana. A funeral was held March 21, 2015, at Pilot View Baptist Church at noon with Pastor Scotty Bullins officiating. Burial followed in the Worrell Memorial Cemetery. Halsey, Loye - Mouth of Wilson  
Loye Halsey, 95, of Mouth of Wilson, Va., passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul Halsey and Vergie Anderson Halsey; sister, Mary Rutherford; infant sister; and his wife, Wylda Kiser Halsey. Survivors include a daughter, Evalynn Halsey of Mouth of Wilson; son, Max Halsey of Wellston, W.Va.; two brothers and spouses, J. L. and Winnie Halsey of Speedwell and Bryan and Geneva Halsey of Independence; sister, Juanita Phipps of Elk Creek; brother-in-law and spouse, March and Laverne Kiser of Mouth of Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The body was at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Little Wilson United Methodist Church, Volney, Va. The Rev. Becky Wheeler, Dwight Sells, the Rev. Bobby Cheeks and the Rev. Bill Shupe officiated. Interment was in Pugh Cemetery with military rites conducted by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family received friends Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Wilson United Methodist Church or Pugh Cemetery or Rugby Rescue Squad. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., was in charge of arrangements.

Kyle, Laylah Faith - Galax  
Laylah Faith Kyle, infant daughter of Xavier Kyle and Gabrille Davis of Galax, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the Twin County Regional Hospital. Survivors include her parents; her maternal grandmother, Heather Ross of Galax; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Malinda and Maurice Lockett of Radford; paternal grandfather, Tyrone Kyle of Galax; maternal great-grandparents, Harvey and Elizabeth Early of Galax and Donald and Oma Reece of Willis; paternal great-grandparents, William and Louise Willis of Galax, Jerry Johnson and Patricia Kyle and Rudolph Kyle, all of Wytheville; great-great-grandmother, Mary McKinney of Wytheville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service was held March 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Cutler officiating. There was no visitation at the funeral home. Montgomery, Beverly Brown - Elk Creek  
Beverly Brown Montgomery, 43, of Elk Creek, died Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was born Sept. 20, 1971. She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Joines Brown. Survivors include her son, Mason May; daughter, Julie Brown; father, Bill Brown and Lois; two sisters, Kathy and Tim Blankenship and Vicki Brown; two brothers, Chuck and Sarah Brown and Ronnie and Carrie Brown; several nieces and nephews; friend, Chad Skidmore. A funeral was held at 1 p.m. on March 21, 2015, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Crockett and the Rev. Charlie Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Hackler Cemetery, Independence. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to the Barnett Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses. Oma Gaye (Granny) Snow, 81, of Galax, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born in Alleghany County, N.C., on Nov. 25, 1933, to Garnie and Nancy Blevins Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Snow. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Leisa and Jack Phipps of Galax; sons and daughter-in-law, Butch Snow of Galax and Terry and Regina Snow of Galax; sister, Faye Bottomley of Galax; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Wanda Robinson of Galax; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. March 24, 2015, at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax. Pete Hawks was the officiating minister. Friends may call at the home of Terry Snow, 311 Alderman Street, Galax. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baywood Rescue Squad.
