Christopher (Chris) John Nasios, 50, of Independence, Va., passed away Nov. 2, 2013, in Independence.
He was born Jan. 15, 1963, at Washington, D.C., to Darlous Exura Blevins Nasios and John Nasios.
He was employed as a support worker for Mount Rogers Mental Health in Galax, Va.
Survivors include a sister, Jennifer (Ginger) Nasios Myers of Lansing, N.C.; one niece, Athena Myers of Lansing; three nephews, Alex Smurda, Andrew Myers and Johnny Myers of Lansing; and an aunt, Lorene Davis Anderson of West Jefferson, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va. Interment will be in Byar Cemetery, Whitetop, Va. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
In honor of Chris, devotion to people with special needs and his love of fishing, the Independence
High School class of 1981 has established a Chris Nasios Trophy that will be presented each year
