Emma June Hensdell Taylor, 88, of Independence, Va., passed away April 1, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was born Nov. 24, 1925, at Independence to the late Will Hensdell and Nancy Isom and was preceded in death by her husband, McWayne Taylor; and grandson, Lance Testerman.
Survivors include daughters and spouses, Betty June and Stephen Sawyers of Independence and Wanda and Jerry Testerman of Elk Creek; sisters and spouse, Hazel and Jimmy Holdaway of Independence and Ruth Burnett of Galax; brother and spouse, Jimmy and Trudy Hensdell of Tacoma, Wa.; brother-in-law and spouse, Thomas and Helen Taylor; sisters-in-law, Elsie Taylor and Ila Mae Hensdell of Independence; four grandchildren, Keith Testerman, Landon Testerman, Lori (Mitchell) Vaught and Misty (Mack) Cassell; nine great-grandchildren, Lakean Vaught, McKenzie Testerman, Crue Cassell, Brady Testerman, Holden Cassell, Abby Vaught, Isabella Testerman, Dalton Cassell and Ann Marie Testerman.
A graveside service was held Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Brush Creek Cemetery, Independence, Va. Gayle Bolt officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
