Iva Rose Williams Ward, 95, of Galax, Va., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in the Waddell Nursing Home.
She was born in Grayson County, Va., on June 19, 1917, to Clark Higgins and Laura Ida Stamey Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Woodrow Ward; sisters, Agnes, Merle, Nellie and Edna; brothers, Lote, Rex, Hatcher, Roy, Tossie, Harold and Ivy (Bully).
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Haliburton of Winston-Salem, N.C., Margaret and Lamar Hebert and Jane Ward, all of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Clarence Davis.
Iva worked at Globman's for 42 years and retired as manager of the children's department.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Bartlett and Elizabeth Vaughan officiating. Burial followed in the Felts Memorial Cemetery.
The family received friends Friday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
