John Daniel Isom, 90, of Woodlawn, Va.,passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
Isom was born in Carroll County, Va., on Jan. 18, 1924, to John W. and Ella Wright Isom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ada Inez Isom.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Virgil Smith of Mount Airy, N.C., and Debbie and Brent Melton of Woodlawn, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Loyde D. and Linda Isom of Winston-Salem, N.C.; granddaughter and husband, April and Michael Heiney of the home; great-grandsons, Mason Scott Heiney and baby to be Alex Daniel Heiney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and James Nelson of Galax, Mary Johnson of Ennice, N.C., and Nellie and Starlin Jennings of Speedwell, Va.; brother, Delmar Isom of Wytheville, Va.; sister-in-law, Pauline Isom of Galax, Va.; several special nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
The funeral service was held Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Hebron Church of Christ with Sammy Burnette and Billy Burnette officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Olivet Cemetery at Cranberry. The family received friends Saturday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
